SIDNEY SHELDON IS GONE

We lost a great man on January 30, 2007.  Sidney Sheldon was one of my all-time favorite novelists. As a teen, I sunk my proverbial teeth into his novel The Other Side of Midnight and was addicted.  He has been an inspiration, crossing career paths, blending and using his incredible talents as screenwriter, novelist, producer, director, actor, and more. I will surely miss him.  In his memory, I picked up that novel that hooked me when I was seventeen and read it through again.  No surprise that I found it every bit as intoxicating the second time around.

 MY WINTER READING LIST

I have had little free reading time this winter/spring so this list is quite short.  I often purchase the books I read at garage sales or places like Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Iowa, which benefits people with physical and/or mental challenges.  While there, I picked up a hardback copy of another Sidney Sheldon masterpiece.

A Stranger in the Mirror, Sidney Sheldon (William Morrow & Co. 1976) ISBN 0688030025

Ultra-huge mega star Toby Temple is the center character and someone you will love to hate.  Sidney takes us deep inside of Hollywood (an environment he knew firsthand) and exposes every strength and weakness of Toby and his love interest Jill Castle.  I enjoyed this book.  The ending developed a bit slowly but Sidney does not disappoint the reader, it was worth the wait.
